Title: 14 Years of the metafor Package: A Retrospective

Abstract:
The metafor package contains a comprehensive collection of functions for
conducting meta-analyses in R. Although some of the code underlying the
package dates back even further in time, the first CRAN version of the package
was released on June 5th, 2009, so exactly 14 years ago (plus or minus a
negligible margin of error of about 3 days). In my talk, I will provide a bit
of a retrospective on the development of the package and highlight some of its
features. Along the way, I would like to describe how the ongoing developments
of the package were shaped by various external factors (e.g., teaching,
applied projects) and discuss the interplay between statistical software
development and methodological research.
