Getting to Padua
By train
Padua is located on both the Venice-Milano and the Venice-Rome railways with many available trains (https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html). Keep in mind that before boarding regional trains it is mandatory to validate the ticket. This is done via machines located on the platforms and within the station. Penalties are applied in case of infractions.
By airplane
The two closest airports to Padua are in Venice (Marco Polo, VCE) and Treviso (Antonio Canova, TSF) depending on the companies. Some low-cost companies indeed fly to the Venice-Treviso airport rather than to Venice. Other available airports are Verona, Bologna, Bergamo, and Milano. Of these, the most convenient ones are Verona and Bologna. A bus service links Verona airport to the Verona Porta Nuova train station from which Padua can be reached. Similarly, a bus service links Bologna airport to the Bologna Centrale train station from which Padua can be reached.
